Macon is my home. From Bloomfield to Rutland to Beall’s Hill, my roots here run deep. I was born here and took my first steps in my grandmother’s home in Bloomfield where I lived with my mother while my father, a career airman, was deployed to Vietnam. Here, I learned the transformational power of neighbors working together for the good of the entire community.
I have fond memories of growing up as a member of the Greater Vineville Baptist Church. There, I learned the importance of grace and embraced a faith that continues to sustain me and provides the strength to take on the right fights, without fear.
Inspired by strong, visionary women who taught me to never settle for the status quo and to always serve my community, I spent three decades teaching and opening doors for our next generation of leaders. Along the way, I earned education degrees from Georgia College, Fort Valley State University, Mercer University and Georgia State University. Because I know the importance of literacy and of family, I recently published the children’s book, “When I Look Into My Daughter’s Eyes,” dedicated to my daughter.
This is an exciting time for Macon, a special place with unlimited potential. But, if we want to see our community blossom, we can’t keep doing the same thing, expecting a different result. As your state representative, I am ready to put my years of experience to work for you to make that potential our reality. Together, we will revitalize our neighborhoods and create a safer, more prosperous community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
We won’t settle for less.
I invite you to join me, Tangie Herring, in this fight to unlock a better future for EVERYONE! I look forward to earning your vote.
